Offering spiritual direction for more than thirty years, Maria Tattu Bowen has formed and supervised spiritual directors in a cross-cultural context for over two decades. Co-Founder of Together in the Mystery Continuing Education for Spiritual Directors, Maria forms spiritual direction supervisors throughout the United States and in Ireland. She serves on the faculty of San Francisco Theological Seminary’s Diploma in the Art of Spiritual Direction Program; Fairfield University’s Spiritual Direction Formation Program; and CenterQuest’s Spiritual Direction School.
Maria has contributed essays to Presence: An International Journal of Spiritual Direction (2017); Supervision of Spiritual Directors: Engaging in Holy Mystery (Morehouse, 2005); Sacred is the Call: Formation and Transformation in Spiritual Direction (Crossroad, 2005); and Reflective Practice: Formation and Supervision in Ministry (2011). She complements her Ph.D. in Christian Spirituality from the Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley and Masters of Applied Spirituality from the University of San Francisco with such body-centered spiritual direction modalities as Inner Relationship Focusing.
