Ephesians 5:2, “and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.”

Ever awakened early to dash off to the local bakery to catch freshly baked bread, donuts or pastries right out of the oven? Delightful aromas capture your senses and draw you through the front door and the scrumptious taste delivers. It’s well worth lost sleep and those puffy eyes that accompany it! The fragrances often rekindle old memories and clutch onto new ones. After all, smells evoke some of our strongest emotions.

Maybe that’s why God uses the descriptive words, “soothing aroma” when referring to Old Testament sacrifices and “fragrant aroma” for Christians in the New Testament. Isn’t our life supposed to be pleasing to God? And, shouldn’t it elicit positive memories and pleasantly productive emotions in those to which we wish to minister?

Each morning offer your life as a soothing aroma to The Lord God. Please Him, draw others through His front door and deliver His greatest goods – eternity through Jesus Christ, His Son.

Walking as His Fragrant Aroma of Love,

PJ
