Hebrews 4:16, “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”
What does it mean to communicate with God?
Is it to voice adoration with an attitude of worship? Maintain a sense of gratitude? Meditate and contemplate upon the who, what and why of God? Reflect on the order of life within one’s sphere of existence – family, friends, work, community and the world? Ponder one’s past, present and future? Bear one’s soul in anger and angst? Recite a list of requests, blessings or scripture? Acknowledge fears, faults and failures? Build community with Jesus Christ? Access the Advocate for assistance?
And, what do you expect?
A sense of internal peace? An external existence without strife? Answers to questions and requests? A pause from daily routine? Stimulation and rejuvenation? Enhanced knowledge? A deeper understanding of your connection with God? A profound spiritual experience? Tangible benefits? Coping ability? Wisdom and guidance? Strength? Relief? Support?
Perhaps to communicate with God is to touch the All Powerful and Divine Eternal One who has the ability to bring change. Perhaps it is to bathe in marvelous mercy, wash in the greatest grace and be drenched with all-encompassing Love. Perhaps it is to walk in peace and joy in the presence of the Perfect and Profound God of All Who cares for you. Perhaps it is to boldly approach the Throne of Grace, made possible through the sacrifice of the Son, with empty hands and a heavy heart and expect the unexpected.
Offer your heart, present your mind, commit your soul, and embrace God’s Throne of Grace. How will you experience God this week?
Communicating All Day Every Day with God,
